Different Ways to Mount Your Television

There are two different ways to mount your television. The generally-accepted way that modern, flat-panel TVs are installed is via a wall mount, but installing them on the ceiling is becoming an increasingly popular option.
Basic wall mount
The most common place that a TV is mounted is the wall, by way of a specialized bracket. This bracket requires a solid backing, such as concrete or hardwood; drywall is not solid enough to hold the mount in place. Each of these mounts corresponds to a certain size and weight of television. When installing a TV to the wall, it is best to have an additional support in place that holds the television until it is firmly and fully mounted to the wall.
Ceiling mount
A ceiling mount is useful when the walls are thin or there is no room on them. Ceiling mounts often require the use of a stepladder, but they are superior to wall mounts in that their angle is adjustable. By positioning your chairs or couches correctly and adjusting your ceiling mount's angle, you can create a situation in which you and your guests can comfortably watch TV while reclining, instead of needing to sit up straight or straining your necks.
Whether you choose to install a ceiling mount or a wall mount, make sure that your TV is well-supported both by the frame and the underlying wall. Mounts are inexpensive, but televisions are not; a good appreciation for weight tolerances can save you a lot of money and heartbreak.
